Yes and no. If a person drinks the proverbial 'single glass of red . . .

wine with dinner' that research does show has health benefits, you probably wouldn't see much, if any of a difference.

If one drinks 3-4 drinks a day/night (or more), for 4 or 5 days (or more) a week for an extended period of time, you will see a measurable difference.

Obviously, the more one drinks a day, and the more days in succession all do have a bearing on it. But if one drinks daily, and it is more than that single glass of wine, yes, you'll see an impact.

When I would start drinking again, after an extended dry period, I wouldn't drink for more than 5 or 6 days, and it'd be fairly moderate a couple of those days (1-2, other days, 4+). I still saw a difference. And, it'd take a couple weeks for things to regulate back down.

Not to get into a judgmental situation, but if somebody drinks multiple drinks daily, that is a textbook drinking problem, even if it is just 2 or 3. Over time, your body gets used to it, and that time of the day you don't have it, your body is actually withdrawing from not having it, and an acute sign of alcohol withdrawal is elevated HR and BP.
