I don't disagree with you about competing for the top players


It is why the ACC went with the zipper model because it shows how important the Southeast Region is in terms of recruiting. It may even suggest how the ACC could handle the rotating pod method if/when it decides to expand to 16 teams.

Instead of creating the pods strictly on geography, the ACC may implement the zipper model with the 4 pods. There are 4 NC schools and 4 schools in the all important Southeast Region (i.e. Clemson, GT, FSU, and Miami). So it is possible the other schools may not want the 4 Southeast Region in 1 pod. If the ACC implements the zipper model with the pods, then don't be surprised if VT ends up with at least 1 school from a northern school in its pod.
