My assumptions are based on the fact that there was no visible disciplinary

actions. In other words, we saw no suspensions, no benching, no indefinite suspensions to garner his attention, etc. These are things that would alert all of us, and the players that there are issues that need to be addressed and corrected.

Maybe he did commit an offense that was so egregious that it warranted immediate dismissal. But those should be saved for instances in which the behavior hurts the university. I don’t think anyone is questioning our hybrid nickel back’s dismissal. That behavior warrants a dismissal.

But to go from verbal warnings straight to a dismissal (the death blow of a career possibly) especially after an extremely embarrassing loss, where tensions are high for players and coaches..... ehhhh. Fu created his own controversy on this one. He could have addressed behavior expectations on a whole, for the team in general, but he chose to remains silent. As he does on many things.

If that is his M.O., that’s fine. But I have to believe that he knows that this causes controversy. Again, I am not anti-Fu. There just seemed to be something amiss in the public theatre of how this played out.

Everyone complains about recruiting on here. We can’t have our cake and eat it too. Either we publicly project fair and reasonable steps of discipline, or our competitors will tell recruits that VT will dismiss you for no reason and then kick you off the team. (Shrug).
