What makes it especially tough is

in the scenario where the offer and acceptance were made prior to the new rules and now the girls can no longer speak to coaches due to their age. So they went from being committed as a Freshman to now they can have no contact with a school and won't for several years. As you said, they are now starting over since no other school was likely recruiting them since they were committed plus those schools probably have already filled that particular class prior to the rule change. Feel bad for those girls.
