I've considered ECU as just a "schedule filler"

Feel the same way about every G5 and below school on our schedule. We need games, they need games...get together and play just to get the check in the box and (for us) hopefully get us one step closer to a bowl game at the end of the year. I'm not looking at these games as a way to bolster our record to make the playoff. We haven't gotten to that point yet, and playing ECU or Marshall won't detract from that goal. Look at UGA's OOC games. Except for GT, which is probably mandated by the GA legislature, they play about the weakest OOC schedule in the country, but it's par for the course for the SEC.

I understand ECU's worries about the hurricane. I get it. What I don't get is the way they handled the situation. Packing up and heading to Orlando without coordinating with VT's athletic department. I think the hurricane cancellation could have been handled much better if they were in constant contact with VT. But IMHO, their pièce de résistance was when they scheduled the end of the season game with NCSU. I was done with them at that point. Over and done! We had to go beg Marshall to play us just to have an opportunity to get our 6th win, and a win was far from certain.
