As far as the AAC goes, Navy (as a football-only member)

may be the only school who might consider leaving the conference to return to being an Independent in the sport. It will probably come down whether Navy can compete in the conference or run into the same problem as Army did when it was a football-only member of Conference USA. Navy's first 4 years in the AAC has gone like this:

2015: T-1st (West)
2016: 1st (West)
2017: T-3rd (West)
2018: T-5th (West)

In comparison, this is how Army's seasons in Conference USA went:

1998: T-5th
1999: T-7th
2000: 9th
2001: 8th
2002: 10th
2003: 11th
2004: T-10th

Even though Army has had a winning record the last 3 seasons and 10-win seasons the last 2 years, I would be surprised to see Army decide to join another conference as a football-only member. Although it might consider Conference USA (aka Sun Belt 2.0) again, the MAC, or the Sun Belt. If Navy decided to leave the AAC and not go back to being an Independent, then Navy could consider moving to those 3 conferences as football-only members. It is even possible that Army and Navy could end up being a package deal.
