I have DrecTV and had a minor problem (my fault) - during the
call to the customer service person when she had fixed my problem, she asked if there was anything she could help me with. Jokingly I said "Lower my bill". She said "OK" and cut my bill in half for the next year.
Bottom line, it doesn't hurt to ask.
Also, I have experiences in the past with telling XM that I am thinking of dropping service.- they ended up offering a lifetime service. I paid it and after 2.5 years I was paid up - free XM for the last 11 years.
