Bandwidth on cable and satellite providers is a finite comodity, so Disney isn't going to turn one property into another, they want to acquire more bandwidth.

Yes ESPNews and ESPNClassic don't have much original programming, but those networks bring in some income via subscriber fees and advertising fees. Those fees come on programming that in some cases ESPN/Disney bought 20-30 years ago. It's free money (almost) to them.

Think of it like beachfront property. Disney has a bunch of hotels named ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNClassic, ESPNews, ESPNU, ABC, SECNetwork, and LonghornNetwork. Do you tear one of those down to build a new hotel and rename it ACCNetwork, or do you buy the property that a trailer park close by named BEINSports is located and give yourself another hotel?
