There are really no compelling reasons for ND football to join a conference

ND is not worried too much about conference TV deals or total conference payouts.

The brass at ND have been put on notice that millions in donations will dry up immediately if ND jettisons football independence.

Scheduling is not an issue. The ACC partial deal helps out with that one.

Minor bowl game ties? The partial deal takes care of that issue, too.

That leaves the playoffs. ND understands and accepts the tougher path there and is ok with it.

Unless a P4 exists which results in a mandated conference champs only playoff set up, ND is not going to be forced into a football conference because of a perceived tougher route to the playoffs.

IF such a set up does occur, hello ACC Coastal Division.
