Not sure about the pooping part...


But definitely need fire to open the cones. I have several Sequoia cones, all are locked up tight. Fire expands cones allowing the seeds to fall out. You can walk through after they have done a controlled burn and see where the cones have opened up.

Uncle worked at Yosemite back in the 30's, 40's and 50's. Some "examples" made it into his personal effects and are now in my display case. He actually ran into Ansel Adams up in the back country one time, have his autograph in a photobook of his.
