Younger generation really not hung up on the conference thing, but the OLDER generation, who has been ingrained about ND independent and set their own path is deep.... and they give the money to ND. And for ND, a private school thats alot.

You pull the athletic staff behind the doors, they fully understand, but can't do anything about it. So , what you are seeing is a very long-game transition with the ACC. The five game series introduces them to ACC football (and its not bad), and the schools, and culture. Remember they are in the big 10 geographic area, and many local fans are just use to the big ten culture, with trips to purdue, mich mich state, wisc, northwestern etc.
