I always thought that when gums were damaged in that way, it was permanent.

Thanks for the insight. I'll see if I can tough it out and go from there. If not, I'll find an oral surgeon who can take care of the whole shebang.

Appreciate you're willingness to share your expertise! Needless to say I won't be going back to that particular dentist's office.
