Yikes, that "bone spur"is called a Tori and the tissue over it is


tissue paper thin. I surgically remove them when I have to put a denture on top of them because they always ulcerate.
In your case if left alone the tissue would gradually grow back over it but it could take a while and will be painful. Alternatively you could have an oral surgeon remove the Tori (Im assuming if your dentist isn;t so good at root canals he/she is even worse at surgeries!) and suture the tissue flap over the defect. Most things that get sutured together heal pretty quickly and uneventfully. Hard to give you advice without seeing the defect but thats your choices.
a)tough it out and stay away from dentists for a while.
It will heal
b) find someone who does tori removals and get it sutured together after removal.
