Jim Delany opposed it.


He said he didn't want to authorize something that would have unintended consequences. And he persuaded the PAC12 and SEC to agree.

Basically he thought that the ACC would do something sneaky with Notre Dame. I'm not sure what we could do sneaky with Notre Dame. The rest of the ACC wouldn't approve of Notre Dame having any schedule different anyway as a member. But he lobbied to block it, and his league is stuck with the current rules too. But Delany has trouble getting over Notre Dame not within his reach.
