I know alumni from all 3 schools & they don't care that much about football
They'll talk about it to be social or friendly, but they don't watch most of their games and don't follow their athletics religiously. The question is what percentage of SEC alumni are diehard fans? I would bet that it is less than 50%, maybe as low as 33%. The ACC may be as low as 25% (some schools even lower). A lot of alumni from P-5 universities just don't care about sports. My sister graduated form UVA and received her masters from UNC and she has little interest in either school's athletics programs. I know Tech grads who feel just like her. They have more pride in their school than its sports teams. I have more pride in Tech the academic institution than its football or men's basketball program. I think most Tech grads feel the same way. That's how the president and BOV would vote. Supporters (fans) of Tech football/basketball who never attended Tech likely feel the opposite way and that's understandable. I like the Pittsburgh Pirates but I could care less about the city they play in while locals love the city more than they love the team that they support as much as I do.
