by people less than enthused with his style of football. However, it could be argued he upgraded when he landed with the Terps in a stable conference versus VT's independent status. Your call on Chuck Noe is probably the correct answer and the fact we have to go back to the 60's/70's time frame to really get candidates for mention says it all about VT's prior historical coaching at the head coach level. The hokies have, on the other hand, produced quite a few assistants that went on to success after their original departure from VT.
