Agree. In the end, Fuente is saying “blame us coaches” if we lose.

And we will. Because he is kind of saying, “I want something as close to a robot as I can get. Someone who executes the plan exactly as specified and doesn’t mess up. Ever.”

And this isn’t meant to be a knock on Josh or implying that he is a robot. He is a good Hokie through and through. But “predicted outcomes” are what robots give you. They don’t improvise. Ever. For better or for worse. The good news is, they aren’t going to give you a massive headache over anything. The bad news is, they’re never going to outperform if/when you need them to.

Fuente’s philosophy is that he and Corn can beat anyone with the proper game plan and flawless execution. We know they have had to alter the game plan just for Willis. And the execution has overall been very good (my opinion), but yeah, he’s going to make you wince every now and then on some of those throws (although not as often as I initially thought).

So if you are a control freak like Fuente, Josh is your man. The guy carries out his marching orders and manages the troops to the best of his ability. He believes in Fuente/Corn and Fuente/Corn believe in him. It’s just not completely like that w Willis and I don’t think it ever will be.

IIWII.
