Here's the thing, I think the UNC game was ODU Part 2 and VT loses to Pitt.

The difference in the UNC game was Pitt dropped wide open passes and their QB misfired on a few occasions. Otherwise, it would've been the exact same game, but possibly uglier since UNC has better talent than ODU on defense and was able to control VT's passing game.

Also, the CBs played better at UNC. Don't get that confused with playing really well, I'm just saying they played better than they did at ODU. Farley, however, actually did have a solid game. Watts, on the other hand, struggled but was smart enough to get called for defensive holdings and pass interferences rather than leaving his guy wide open for TDs. Either way, I think VT avoided another embarrassing road loss at UNC. That's a good building block.

Regarding Pitt, I've thought VT would lose to them since before the season began. They know how to mix pass and run very well, and I'm not convinced this defense is able to control power running teams that are able to mix in misdirection, play-action passes, and keep you on your toes. GT doesn't have that ability. They just run-run-run. So, I'm more concern about Pitt than GT.

We'll see. The ACC isn't very good this year, so VT is rebuilding with a young team at the perfect time. I'm sticking with my prediction that this team will find out how to win at least 8 games. That's been my floor, and I'm sticking to it :)
