I'm with you wholeheartedly on #3.

That play irritated the crap out of me. There is absolutely ZERO excuse for an offensive lineman to run down field on a designed slow-developing reverse pass, PARTICULARLY when said lineman is on the opposite side of the field from the play direction and there is literally no one to block. I'm all for hustle, but that was just a complete lack of focus, and I agree - I put that squarely on the coaches. I don't care if the offensive lineman had never played a down in his career before - the coaches have got to make every player understand the situation.

Successful coaches seem to have a knack for teaching and for insuring their players have good situational awareness and make sound decisions in the heat of the game. Sometimes that means being a drill sargeant like Nick Saban. He demands perfection, and is probably an insufferable jerk to play for, but man...the guy gets results (OK I know I'm ignoring his roster full of 5 star players, but humor me here). I'm not saying Fuente isn't stressing the details enough, but so far, it seems like his teams make a lot of mental mistakes. I know the roster is young, but it's not like these kids havent been playing football their entire lives. I have no problem seeing VT get beat by a better, more talented team (which ND is), but the repeated mental mistakes are really tough to accept.
