Obviously you misinterpreted my post because you missed the point of it

Did I establish a date on when this "divorce" should happen? No. So you are mistaken that I don't understand or I am unwilling "to play the long game, strategy" as you put it.

For the record, since you obviously jumped to the wrong conclusion about what I am thinking or willing to do, is let the GOR run its course and expire in 2035-2036. However, IF Notre Dame still wants to remain an Independent in football in 2035-2036, then I don't think the ACC should renew its agreement with them. Especially if there is a possibility that the ACC could add Penn State and WVU at that time.

Now if there was a possibility that the ACC could add 2 schools (particularly ones with a namebrand) prior to 2035-2036 as full members and it appears that Notre Dame will want to continue with the status quo under a new agreement, then I probably would be okay if the ACC released Notre Dame of its GOR early so it could add 2 full members depending on the 2 schools. It doesn't make sense for the ACC to add 2 full members and have 17 basketball members because 17 teams can't play a 20 game conference schedule. The math doesn't work out cleanly for all 17 members.

As far as L'ville vs. UMD goes, I would prefer if the ACC had UMD from a rivalry standpoint. However, I can live with L'ville being in the ACC. We do agree on 1 thing though; it is hard to say what the landscape of college athletics will look like in 2035-2036.
