When I visit my 90 year old mother in her retirement community...


...her best friends are named Sylvia, Gloria, Pauline, and TWO Rosemary's. There's a Betty, a Joyce. You won't see many of those names in the 50-and-under crowd, I don't think.

Seems like women's names change more generation to generation than men's. There aren't as many men there but the ones I have met or that she mentions have names like William that could easily be found in any generation. I can't even think of what the male equivalent of those women's names above are -- names that would be common among octa/nona-genarians but pretty much nonexistent among younger men?
