Some cheap bp monitors are very accurate

But the wrist types not so much. I would not trust one of those that I had not verified myself. Before I retired I worked in healthcare. And had a 10K piece of test equipment that checked the accuracy of bp machines. Some of the 30 dollar Omron units were as accurate as the 10K machines in the hospital. And either is more accurate than a nurse who deflates the cuff too fast or whose hearing is the least bit suspect. Omron is the only brand of the home units I would buy.
