The ortho max stuff will get the whole mound

the problem is you don't know they are down there underground until they mound up. I use the ortho max granules as it is safe around pets and animals and it is granules so easy to spread with a little laundry detergent cup or something. It does not take alot to kill the mound. But to eradicate fire ants is impossible, as you may kill them on your land but the guy next door does not so they will be back on your land even if you get them "controlled". I only shoot for controlled though
