This is a significant issue they have to deal with. A lot of police work
the game day traffic both on and off the campus. Plus, local fire/rescue personnel are usually assigned to the stadium area as well, and some of these folks are volunteers from outside of the immediate area. A major regional storm has the potential to cause a lot of requests for assistance for medical and other aid due to traffic accidents, property damage, flooding, etc. If you have a significant number of these first and secondary responders tied up at an athletic event, there could be untreated injuries or deaths that may have been prevented by having those folks remain in their service areas.
