What is the real story behind this FB post about VT players kneeling?

see the post below. The caption sounds plausible and makes one swell up with pride. I looked for confirmation in the photo, and it even looks like players are shaking the hands of the cadets... but, when I read through the comments, I found this:

"No, don't read the caption. They are praying. William and Mary did the same thing in the other endzone. They ran onto the field and to the opposite endzone to pray, not respect the troops. Quite frankly that is a laugh, as the troops shouldn't be worshipped like a God. VTCC has been a major part of Virginia Tech tradition since its beginning, they have had thousands of alumni, a majority of them having served our nation. Please, especially as a Hokie, check your facts--misrepresenting our great school is dishonorable.

Sincerely, a current Virginia Tech student"

So, now, I wonder if it is just a misleading original post, or if the person who posted it just didn't know exactly what was going on. Can anyone confirm any of this, for either account?

Thanks, Go Hokies
