I mean...do you care about being wanted as a full member of a conference?

Obviously you don't want ND joining a conference for football and, equally obviously, it isn't going to happen in any event. And everybody knows ND doesn't want to be in a conference and that they don't have to be in a conference. Which means people are going to dislike ND for "arrogance" and "special treatment" and blah blah blah. But that's just part of the deal. You get to be an ND fan, which is great for you, and everybody else gets to root for ND to fail and/or rip on them for, you know, reasons.

Personally, I don't have a problem with ND. This is mostly for 3 reasons:

1) I think Rudy and Knute Rockne, All American are damn fine movies.
2) As apocryphal as the story may be, I'm grateful to ND for popularizing the forward pass (w/o which football would surely have been banned many decades ago).
3) With the current ACC arrangement, VT gets to play ND at football! Like, often! I went to a game in South Bend and saw Touchdown Jesus! Who doesn't like this?!?

Anyway, after tonight, let's hope neither of us screws this up and we get to host you guys in about a month for the biggest game of the weekend. Cheers....
