I don't buy these arguments.

>> "But when you can't watch Player A play against Player B, or at least watch them in the same calendar year, you have to look to stats as an equalizer"

I couldn't disagree more. Stats generated on different teams and in different eras are impossible to compare. Period, end of story. One players being asked to play a certain role by his coach because of the team makeup or the coach's system, or whatever. And the other player asked to do different things, or surrounded by different players. Heck, any PG who played on the Bobby Hussey teams was severely penalized because NO ONE on the entire team could shoot. They couldn't even make wide open 8 footers. Stats have a purpose, but I refuse to agree that they are the absolute deciding factor in a discussion like this.

>> "in both cases Zabian slides off the ball anytime J-Rob is in."

That's a straw man if there ever was one, for who is the worse offensive player, not who is the better PG. Zabian slides to the 2 because he's more versatile, end of story. The question you should be asking, and the only legitimate one to decide this premise is, "Your best player on the team is a 2 and he can't play 1 or 3. Who starts at PG: Zabian or Justin?"

I'll take Zabian. Because I think he can be as effective on offense as JRob, and he is night and day better on defense. And on that end it's not even close. The number of games we've lost over the last 2 years because we had no ability to stop a decent PG (not talking about all-world, just decent) from freely getting into the lane is frustrating. And those don't happen if ZD is our PG.

Your wish to ignore defense for a single statistic is shocking. In fact because of that, I'm thinking maybe you're just trolling a bit. Which is fun.
