Better athlete, better scorer, better finisher, weaker supporting cast.

I've seen every VT PG play since Marshall Ashford. To me, Bimbo is in a class by himself. 5, Zabe, and Al Young are competing for 2nd place.

I give JRob the edge over Bimbo for his handle and his vision. Everything else, I think Coles is better. Bimbo was not only a volume scorer, he was a tremendous leaper and drew tons of traffic when he attacked the rim- it was nearly impossible for teams to stop him with a single defender. His assist totals were so high because there was generally an unguarded teammate available any time Bimbo got into the paint. This, IMHO, is 5's biggest weakness- he is great at penetrating but not so great at finishing- and he doesn't seem to recognize that fact. His already solid assist totals would be higher if he'd kick out more rather than throwing up an ill-advised shot when in among the trees. Bimbo, by contrast, was able to elevate and hang over much taller defenders.

I would also argue that if Bimbo played today, his scoring numbers would be down but his assist totals would be even higher. His best teammate, the only other legit scoring threat he played with (Wally L) would be at best the 7th or 8th man on the current Hokie roster.

I love solid PG play and have really enjoyed watching 5's career but having watched both guys I would pick Coles every time.
