I honestly don't know. For now, my only real goal
is to make enough money to cover the cost of the equipment I bought. If that ever happens, that would mean I had enough customers to possibly justify another $1000 rig that would do the job a lot faster.
Again, for now, I'm hoping to make a few hundred dollars (which would still not technically be a profit). If things started to legitimately grow to the point where it was more than a hobby that generates a little bit of petty cash, I'll burn that bridge when I get there.
My real question is where is that crossover point? Right now, my total revenues are under $100. I don't see much point in getting licenses, attorneys, insurance, and an accountant when I'm only looking at 2- or 3- figure revenues. If I ever get to the point where I'm generating a few thousand bucks in revenues, I'd definitely like to make the business official. But where, exactly, is that crossover point?
