The following is what I remember.

We did have a player die, but he had an undiagnosed heart condition that was a contributor. Jimmy Sharpe coached for three years only, beginning with the 1974 season. Bill Dooley was the coach when Voorhees died. (His home was Voorhees, GA) I can understand the family's concern, but they did give Tech some trouble. And Sharpe's downfall was at a meeting of the Roanoke Sports Club held at the Salem Civic Center. I talked to the coach a fair amount prior to the meeting, and thought, "Oh boy, this ain't gonna be good when the papers get hold of him in a little bit."

I still think about that every time I hear about Voorhees, GA.
