...when you're talking about quality. It's the Nike swoosh that brings in the kids.
Back when I was a young child, Converse was THE COMPANY when it came to basketball (and other) shoes. Every kid wanted to wear Converse All-stars. What happened? Nike started putting huge money into marketing, including buying stars like Michael Jordan. The end result, Nike owns Converse, as well as the majority of college athletic contracts. Kids like to wear what their stars wear, and Nike probably owns the majority of them...
