I think you're misinterpreting Bud's quote


Bud's quote:

"You have Zion Debose. We talked about that [moving to DT] with Zion, but I’d like to keep him at defensive end. He’s a play away from maybe being the next guy for us at that spot."

The next guy at "that spot" means defensive end, not defensive tackle.
