I agree that VT should listen to other offers, but it might come


down to whether VT has "good timing" or not. Right now, Clemson is on top (or near the top) of the football world. I would think that has to play some factor in how much money a school receives from a shoe company.

If VT football (and maybe even men's basketball) is on the rise when VT's contract comes up for renewal, then I could see multiple companies try to outbid Nike. However, if men's basketball is going through a major rebuilding phase (with a new HC) and football is perceived to not be close to returning to being a consistent Top 10-15 program or recapture the magic of the 1999 season, then I am not sure how much interest there will be from other shoe companies. I hope it isn't a case of Babcock accepting the "best" of the low ball offers.
