Nope. Those guys went into debt. Nothing like that at all.


The athletes do not go into debt. They do not end up owing any money or debts to the university. None of that is even remotely true. They can choose not to do it. The universities do not wrangle them into servitude. This is all just fiction that people make up to justify getting someone to give them stuff.

It's hilarious that some say they have no choice. Of course they have choice. They can choose not to accept a scholarship to play football. They can do something else with their lives. 90% of them will end up doing that anyway once their eligibility is up. Only then, they will have gotten a college degree - for free.

If some people are sore that they have no options for getting paid to play football after high school, they should take it up with the NFL. It is not any college's obligation, legal, moral, ethical, or otherwise, to make this option available to them.
