Or maybe both you and HWA are missing the point, or making the right point.

If it's a choice of going to a game and spending a bloody fortune compared to the "bad old days", HWA is more correct. For me, the cost of a game boils down to what seat I want to pay for. I happen to sit in the cheap seats at the top of the stadium. Also, I don't but articles of clothing and other souvenirs at the stadium. I don't buy expensive food items either. And even if Lane sold beer, I would not partake of that either. No beer is worth what is charged inside a stadium.

At Lane, the only extra I pay for is the seat back, and that's more to mark my small piece of real estate on the bench. I will buy a bottle or two of water, and will "splurge" on a Dairy Club milk shake.

However, if we talking about spending money on tickets, traveling to a game, staying locally for a couple of nights, or staying at home, you are much more correct. Even for me, who opts for the cheapest way possible to view the game, it would be much cheaper to stay home in front of the wide screen, in HD, with cheap food, a climate controlled environment, and better replays.
