Unless it doesn't have a salary mitigation clause, he could not coaches and make salary for a couple years Or work and make the same salary. Not to mention, the proverbial honeymoon period doesn't start at the next job until he takes a job.

Also, between VT and Maryland, he will almost certainly choose Maryland.
