We had a designated room that was locked and off limits.

We kept our bed - really nice and a gift from my mom when we got married - a coffee table from my great grandmother. My wife kept a victrola because it was the first piece of furniture she bought when she moved out of her house at age 18. So we labeled stuff "No Sale" and locked it up. But the estate sale team wanted to be briefed on it because, they said, "trust us, people will find a way in that room and then bring it to us to purchase... so we want to know exactly what you put aside."

I've got a video of walking through the house after the sale. It was surreal... we lived there for 20 years. On a Thursday night it looked like it always had for 20 years. Then Sunday morning... one simple wooden chair left in the middle of a room.
