My yard sale story. We used to live in Salem, and about 10 years ago . . .

we decided to have a yard sale. So Saturday morning, we get up early and I help the wife set everything up before heading to work. About 9:15 I get a call from my wife, and she tells me that the local police stopped by and asked if she had a permit to hold a yard sale. We had never even heard of needing one, so no. The female officer told her that she had 30 minutes to shut it down or she was going to issue a citation. Well, we had a LOT of stuff out and it was no way she was going to be able to move everything back in the garage by herself. Police come back and write her a ticket. Wife goes to court instead of paying the fine and the judge basically laughed it off, saying he had never heard of anyone getting a ticket for having a yard sale. He dismissed the case and basically scolded the officer for wasting everybody's time.
