Each of those moves below were a step up in a career. Including going from Memphis to Lamar, because it meant becoming the top assistant at his Alma mater...so while not typically a move that would make sense, it makes perfect sense for an alum

VT to ECU doesn't make sense when it comes to a career arc, unless he is seen as damaged goods (he isn't) or he is getting too old to be on the road (he isn't). Is he moving closer to home? No.

Roccaforte and Buzz have been good friends for 28 years. He wasn't pushed out. He wasn't looking for a bigger opportunity if ECU is where he chose. He wasn't afraid for his job since VT is on an upward trajectory. The only thing that makes sense is that he knew something was coming and he wanted to be ahead of the curve, and no one can fault him for that.
