I think Buzz put in a good word with Isaac Chew for their open assistant spot. Knew Roccaforte was leaving and didn't want to replace a good recruiter with an aging coach.

It doesn't hurt Buzz's case that he will have two voices (Chew and Reynolds) in his corner when the time for a new coach comes at A&M.

I don't think Reynolds was planting a flag at A&M, it was just a good connection so Buzz didn't have to pass up a great working colleague with a soon-to-be open assistant position.

A&M has two great recruiters on staff already, they were lacking in someone who could help with Xs and Os, Reynolds is a good fit for their needs.

Buzz doesn't need an X's and Os guy in a recruiting position, as he doesn't really have a rigid philosophy on either side of the ball. He just needs guys, good guys, or OKGs or whatever he wants to call it. Reynolds isn't getting you those guys, and you can't replace Roccaforte with Reynolds.
