I understand what you are saying, but it is still a bit of a gamble

because there is no guarantee that non-ACC fans would pay for the ACCN just to watch the marquee games. Whereas, they probably would tune in if the game was aired on ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, or ESPNU.

Heck even some ACC fans may decide it isn't worth it to get the ACCN because either their team isn't televised enough on the ACCN or the only college sports they watch is football and men's basketball. If their team is playing on the ACCN, then they will seek alternative ways to watch it or just not watch it. If the plan backfires on the ACC, then don't expect the Big Ten and SEC to make the same mistake.
