For some odd reason, really didn't think FSU was ready to leave for the B12

I think they used that as leverage to push for football schools (which was definitely the right move) over small private BB schools. A lot of their alumni were talking about the B12 on message boards, but I really don't think their administration would have been crazy enough to make that jump. Until ND partially entered, every ACC school has been treated equally when it came to financial distributions, etc.

The NC Mafia-4 used to exert a lot of pressure over the conference when it came to making decisions, but as the conference grew, thankfully their influence declined. The ACC is no longer a small regional basketball league that plays a little football on fall weekends. I think the coaching upgrades show the conference takes football very seriously now. Football is the cash king of college athletics.
