MLB turned over their teams' websites to BAM over a decade ago so that every team could have a uniform look to their websites. The NHL turned theirs over about 5 years ago for the same reason.

I'm pretty confident that this is due to the ACC Network so that they can have a seamless integration into it.

As for students doing it, that would be ideal, but students might not be the most reliable to do these things over weekends, overnights, holidays, Christmas break, spring break, and summer break. Paid employees would be more reliable.
