I'm a Charleston local, and have plenty of recommendations...
The Hokie bar (The Brick) is across from the Visitor's Center on Ann Street. Former Hokiebird owns it.
Upper King Street is where the F&B scene is these days. For oysters, go to 167 Raw, or The Darling Oyster Bar. For really good moscow mules, go to The Rarebit. Other really good restaurants of note are Stars, The Macintosh, Halls Chophouse, 492 King, The Ordinary, Virginia' on King... just to name a few within easy walking distance of the basketball arena. Still downtown... are Hank's Seafood, Pawpaw, Magnolia's, Eli's Table, High Cotton, and Slightly North of Broad (SNOB).
