I doubt that was the only knock. He had a career completion % of 56% and


a career passing rating of 80. He only threw for > 3,000 yards in a season twice and his high season passing yardage was 3.303.

Not very impressive and I doubt that can be attributed to not taking much off his short passes.

Shake any tree and NFL QBs with great arms and unremarkable passing stats fall out.
