I mentioned the CBs already as an obvious weakness, but VT has done that before starting freshmen. Expect more man coverage and simpler schemes in the secondary, which will make the LB play event more critical.

Tremaine Edmunds was an absolute freak and he will be missed. However, overall the talent level at Mike, Backer, and Whip positions are MUCH better now then VT has seen in quite some time. The inexperience is going to be worrisome, so there will be struggles.

So, I'm not underestimating anything. With Bud Foster as the defensive coordinator, there is very little chance the defense will be bad. It'll be solid at worse. UNLESS, of course, we're speaking VT standards. By our standards, I'm expecting some busted coverages, missed assignments, and headaches to start the season. Lots of "Uh ohs" this season. Praying things get cleaned up the second half of the season.
