Tech fans only make excuses for a D when it suits us. Look at OKST for an example. Now I am not a Division I defensive coordinator but I did not like the amount of cushion Bud was giving OKST receivers. I honestly would have ran bump-n-run coverage with a man-free look, but I'm not paid almost a million a year to make that decision. I understand Bud gave a lot of cushion because he didn't have all of his pieces in this game and didn't want to gamble as much, but it's a bowl game, throw everything at them.

Willis' supporting cast was very young, even younger than what JJ had because he at least had Cam who was a solid proven receiver and a senior. I wouldn't say that their receivers were better, I still feel that ours were very talented but extremely green. My eye is on them to take the next step more than the qb position. Since Fuente has an incumbent, history says that his incumbents improve in terms of stats and production. So hopefully JJ takes that next step but in order for him to do it, his supporting cast has to as well.
