OKST had the second best offense in the country last year...

We were down three key starters on defense in that game. Texas was the only team to hold them under 30+ points last year. Honestly, everyone in the country including Bama, Georiga and Clemson would have had a hard time stopping that offense. We could have won that game if it wasn't for the mistakes on offense and, Floyd and Ladler getting burnt on two deep passes. OKST was only a few plays away in each of their games to being undefeated and they had a very experienced, senior-led team.

Now in terms of what went on in the spring, from what I heard Willis was up and down a lot throughout the spring. When he was on, he was making plays like you saw in the spring game, but when he was off, he was a turnover machine. In one practice alone he threw four interceptions. JJ didn't throw his first inception of the spring until the practice before the spring game. I understand that everyone wants to give Willis a chance because he may show that he has the highest upside but I am not willing to gamble wins because a qb can throw a nice pretty deep ball. JJ, when healthy, is a pretty darn good qb. Imagine for a second if JJ had the weapons that Evans had in 2016, in 2017? JJ was already a better passer as a freshman than Evans was a junior. The reason Evans got the nod was that he was older and was able to get the ball out a lot faster than JJ because the offense Evans ran in junior college was similar to Fuente's, the reads were basically the same. Also, Fuente wanted JJ to get the development because he knew what he had in him. I think JJ will improve and show that he is a very capable ACC quarterback. Remember, he was just a RS.Fr with freshman talent around him. Allow them to grow together and watch how the offense will flourish.
