Kansas had a 2-22 record during his time there

Yes, Willis set a freshman passing record, throwing for 1719 yards (JJ threw for 2991) in 2015. But the Jayhawks were winless (0-12).

Willis did start a couple of games for Jayhawks in 2016, but was sacked 16 times. He lost his starting job after a 49-7 defeat to Baylor that dropped the Jayhawks to 1-6. After six interceptions in two games, Kansas coach about Willis said, “You’ve got to read. I mean, you don’t get to pick guys out in college football. When you do, it hurts. It’s not good. It comes to the tune of picks all over the place.”

Willis sat the bench against Oklahoma, West Virginia and Texas. Don't get me wrong. I want the Hokies to win, and I want all of our players to be successful. Jackson shot himself in the foot with his issues earlier this season. But whether Willis can take Virginia Tech's passing attack to another level remains to be seen, IMO.
