Agree with the "divide" comment....

I just think that Swofford could've been a little more aggressive getting the ACCN up before 2019.

IMHO, the ACC's flaw is the lack of large state (statewide) football-first universities. The other four Power 5 conferences have that model for success. If men's basketball drove the bus, the ACC would be number one. The reality is that football drives the bus and the ACC only has six true football-first schools (not including Notre Dame). UNC, UVA, NC State, Syracuse, and BC need to focus more on football. I think NC State is heading in the right direction. Louisville invests in football but basketball will always be #1. Duke and Wake have improved but they'll always be "basketball" schools. UNC should be one of the top football schools in the ACC but they always fall short in the long term. Looks like UVA's new AD wants to focus more on football. Even if all that occurs, I doubt the ACCN will attract more football fans from those schools. I'd say that 10 or 11 of the Big10's 14 schools are football-first (Indiana, Maryland, Rutgers, and maybe Purdue recently aren't). 12 of the SEC's are football-first (Kentucky and Vandy aren't). Nine of the Big 12's 10 members are football-first (Kansas isn't). Probably 10 of the Pac 12's are football-first (UCLA and Arizona aren't). IMO, Miami, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Clemson, Virginia Tech, and Pittsburgh are the ACC's football-first school. The ACC was built on men's basketball. The other conferences were built on football.
